Kicking off our list of the best things to do in Greenwich is the Royal Observatory. The Royal Observatory is situated on spectacular hill in Greenwich Park and has been instrumental in the development of astronomy and navigation. The prime meridian passes right through it, hence the name ‘Greenwich Mean Time’ – and is physically marked on the ground (read: obligatory photo standing on the line!). Featuring in Joseph Conrad’s moody victorian novel The Secret Agent, the Royal Observatory plays an important part in the history of scientific discovery in London. Visitors can check out the observatory, which features a museum detailing the building’s long and fascinating history.

Like boats? Like really big boats? What about bleeding massive boats that you can go on? Well we have a treat for you! Next on our list of the best things to do in Greenwich is the Cutty Sark. Built on the River Clyde in 1869 as a vessel to transport tea from China along the Suez Canal, The Cutty Sark was one of the fastest and most beautiful ships of its day.

The 02 Arena is one of London’s most recognisable landmarks and one of the best entertainment venues in the world. Originally it was built to commemorate the turning of the Millenium, hosting a bizarre half-convention-half-theme-park titled the Millennium Experience. The Experience became a bit of a laughing stock, and it ended up being repurposed as a music and sports venue, eventually becoming the 02 Arena in 2005.
The O2 Arena hosts some of the best comedy, live music and sporting events in the country, in a venue with capacity for 20,000 people. Without a doubt it is worth having a look at what shows are on during your trip to London!

Next on our list of the best things to do in Greenwich Village is Greenwich Market. This indoor market dates back to 1737, and is the only in London to be located on a World Heritage site. The range of antiques and independent designs is fantastic, and the market is even better when you arrive via Thames riverboat. Once a hospital for wounded sailors, designed and built by Christopher Wren, it eventually became a training academy for The Royal Navy.
