Finally, a good tour about Harry Potter in Oxford! Bring your wands, magical brooms and any other items, which we can’t directly mention for fear of getting sued by Warner Brothers…
One of the most influential and architecturally stunning Colleges at Oxford. With its grand medieval buildings and darkened cloisters, it’s easy to imagine Harry and the gang walking around here. Another iconic part of the College clearly recognisable from the film are the grand cloisters, providing an imposing start to your exploration of New College.
Not only do we include those magical wonders of Harry Potter in Oxford, but we also hear about the other fabulous children’s books written in Oxford, including Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the Hobbit, Lord of the Rings and the Chronicles of Narnia, and the scholars who wrote them. For those looking beyond Harry Potter, New College has also produced numerous famous graduates, along with other notable academics – such Oxford University focused information will be provided throughout the tour, though the extent of it will be tailored to each groups requirements.
Go inside the medieval Hogwarts Hospital with its images of beasts and biblical scenes. This ornate building is not only a perfect room for a hospital and separate dance scene while filming Harry Potter in Oxford – it would also serve as the first purpose lecture rooms at Oxford University.
The links with Oxford University and Harry Potter run deeper than the buildings used in the films. For instance we have a college Quidditch league, an almost similar sorting process for colleges (minus the talking hat) and many other elements. This tour provides a visitor with the opportunity to visit the major film sites for Harry Potter in Oxford, the history of Oxford University, but also hear about the similar traditions and student antics, all from a student who has attended the University.
Please note Colleges can close with minimal notice to the public. In such circumstances alternatives will be offered to the group, along with the option for a refund.
