However, the best known piece in the exhibit is the Peplos Kore. A brightly painted plaster cast of a young Greek woman, which was originally set on the Acropolis. While the bright colouring may seem odd, it is actually an accurate replica of the sculpture’s original appearance. Even though most of us equate Classical sculpture with pure white marble this is actually incorrect.
