Pizza Union, Kings Cross
Top of our list of the best cheap eats in London is Pizza Union, a buzzing restaurant full of hungry hipsters and students. Pizzas range from £3.25 to £6.95, which is extraordinarily cheap for London. Olives are £1.50 and you can get extra sauces and parmesan for 50p. The Calabria and Funghi must get a special mention, as does the warm nutella dolce for dessert. All the 12″ pizzas are baked Roman style, with a thin and crispy base. There’s something for everyone here, and the food is served lightening fast!

Chick n’ Sours, Covent Garden
Next on our list of the best cheap eats in London is the clucking brilliant Chick n’ Sours. Set in the basement of a chic Covent Garden building, Chick n’ Sours feels more like a club than a restaurant. Banging tunes pump 24/7 from the cocktail bar at the center of the dining space. The K-pop burger is enough to get you dancing, served with sriracha sour cream, gochujang mayo, asian slaw and fries for £11. The chicken is double-fried in the Korean style for extra crunch and the sauces are spicy and zingy. The Kung Pao disco wings are not be missed either, and for the meager price for a fiver should go straight in your basket! Chips and dripping sauce are only £3.50. As Chick n’ sours tagline suggests, this place is ‘next level’.

Third on our list of the best cheap eats in London is Bao, or more specifically Bao’s confit pork bun, which has become an instagram celebrity of late. You might have to brave a long queue, but these Taiwenese buns are worth the wait.
The menu is a tiny paper list of 9 Xaoi Chi, 6 Gua Bao and 4 sides. Nothing is more than £6 which means dinner can be under £20. The buns are comforting and delicious, the drinks list is sublime and the service is immaculate. All of this makes Bao one of our favourite Footprints haunts. Bao is definitely wow!

Fourth on our list of the best cheap eats in London is Roti King, a Malaysian restaurant serving the best roti we’ve ever had, all for a fiver. Don’t be alarmed by the unassuming entrance on Doric Street, downstairs is an underground kingdom of delicious Malaysian food. The Murtabak is a dish we couldn’t help scoffing – flaky, buttery flatbread stuffed with chicken curry for a fiver. The cheese roti, accompanied by a flavoursome dahl was also of particular delight. Roti King is definitely the king of roti.

One visit and you’ll see what all the fuss is about – this is the best fish and chips we’d ever tasted, and the best part is it’s only £7.20! Crispy batter and crunchy chips, all served with a smile. Definitely up there with the best cheap eats in London!
